Thanks to our readers!
Thanks to all of you who read and have let me know! I'll try to keep posting, especially things that embarass Shae for Eric and Natalie.
Little eyes miss nothing
Hannah was helping herself to some crackers from a box on the table and noticed on the flap of the box there was a little "+" sign among other symbols. She said, "That's a little cross. Jesus died on it." (Apparently she got the Easter story down!)
Bones in there!
At lunch, Hannah held up her forearm and said, "There's bones in there!" Where does she get these things??? I asked her and she said, "I just know it."

Cut like a lamb
This morning I asked Hannah if she wanted her strawberries whole or cut. (She has a high-maintenance vein from her father and sometimes cares about such things.) She said, "Cut, like a lamb." I said, "Cut like a lamb????" "Yes! Cut, like the lamb!" I then remembered that we'd been talking about shearing sheep and how the shepherd cuts off their fleecy wool... I love the connections she makes!
True
Hannah and I were reading stories with some of her stuffed animals on her bed the other day and she suddenly said, "Let's just talk. Books are dangerous!" I have no idea where she got that one! But she's more right than she knows... :) Laughing a little, I asked her to elaborate and tell me why they were dangerous, what dangerous means, etc. but she just started laughing, too.
Asking too much
When I ask Hannah a question and she doesn't know or remember the answer, she's started saying--in my exact tone--"Do you remember? Can YOU say it, Mommy?", just like I prompt her.
Who's who
Again, Hannah was upstairs and Matthew and I were on the main level. I called up to her, "What are you doing, babe?" She replied, "Who's babe?" (She's right, I usually call her father "Babe", not her.) Then she said, "Where's Shae?"
Just a minute...
Hannah was upstairs in our bedroom and I was asking her to come downstairs with me and Matthew. She replied, "Just a minute. I'm checking my e-mail!" Hmmmm. Wonder where she's heard that before. :)
Learning from the Bible
Hannah and I have been working on learning some Scripture verses from a packet for kids with pictures for each one. She's got a few down now, starting with "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Except she quotes the reference as Genesis 1:1:1. I've tried to explain that there's just two numbers--1:1. But she's convinced it's 1:1:1.
Another verse is Isaiah 43:5, "Fear not, for I am with you." The picture for this one shows a little girl surrounded by the letters GOD on all sides. After working on this one, Hannah said, "Where is God? Is all this (waving her arms all aound) God?"

She told him
One weekend morning, Shae came downstair with just his pj pants on. He was standing at the sink in the kitchen and started doing some goofy flexing to entertain Hannah. What did she think of it? With a concerned look, she said, "Put a shirt on, Daddy."
Does anyone read this?
Just curious... I haven't written in a while in part because we've been traveling and fighting the Mice War on the homefront. Also, I wonder if it's worth posting. I'll update the things I've been meaning to add for now.

The Bottom Line
Yesterday Hannah saw me make a birthday cake for a friend. When I announced this morning that it is Miss Julie's birthday, Hannah asked, "Can we eat it?" Just like her (Grand)Mom!
Altruism
At our family celebration of Shae's birthday last week, Hannah and her cousin Becky (4 mos. older) were sitting at a kid-sized table adjacent to the grown-ups. As we were eating cake, we looked over to see that Hannah had finished the cake on her plate and was reaching across the table and eating Becky's! We asked her what she was doing and she replied cheerfully, "Sharing!"
Overheard
From the bathtub the other night: "Old MacDonald has a farm, e-i-e-i-o, and on that farm he has some bubbles, e-i-e-i-o, with a blub blub here and a blub blub there..." I love the songs she makes up!
